Over the years, I’ve often written of the moral weight of voting in America within the context of the plight of the unborn under the gavel of abortion and its intrinsic evil. There is no greater voting issue in America today than the abortion issue.

Roots of the Cafeteria Catholic Phenomenon
While “Cafeteria Catholic” is a somewhat new term, it is not an entirely new phenomenon; its roots are found in Renaissance humanism, Enlightenment philosophies and some of the subsequent errors of Modernism. Although some people today think that a self-guided moral autonomy is the intelligent way to live, it is not the path leading to human fulfillment but its opposite.
The 21st Century War Against Moral Discernment
The new pagans of this age labor to guard their false philosophies by annihilating judgment. Even Christians can be swayed by their influence. The Bible, however, does not prohibit objective moral judgment of others, but rather encourages it. Jesus Christ himself urges brotherly and fraternal correction (see Mt 18:15).

The Consequences of Silence in The Public Square
A quote often attributed to St. Francis of Assisi is, “Preach the Gospel at all times, and when necessary use words.” This quote is often used to emphasize the importance and value of living the Gospel life by example. Obviously, we cannot evangelize for Christ if our own lives fail to bear the marks of ardent discipleship.
