Baptism In The Holy Spirit: Unleashing His Divine Love, Joy, and Power

April 19, 2018 by Deacon Frederick Bartels 1 Comment

The Fire of The Holy Spirit

When a baptized Christian finally gives himself over to Christ fully and sincerely in faith, God is thus allowed, given permission, to work in his soul. The graces of baptism and the activities of the Holy Spirit are thus “realized.” The experience is a powerful “flourishing” or “unfolding” of the Holy Spirit in the person in which the gifts and fruits of the Spirit are unleashed.

Children of the Light aren’t afraid of the Dark

October 31, 2017 by Lauren Heaton 2 Comments

With Christ we are not afraid of the dark

Were you afraid of the dark as a kid? Did the trees make a scraping sound against the house that had you convinced there was a beast outside your window? Did you think there were monsters under your bed?

Pope Benedict XVI: “Prayer is The Breath of The Soul and of Life”

August 22, 2017 by Deacon Frederick Bartels Leave a Comment

Woman at Prayer

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI reminds us that our strength originates and flows forth from the fount of prayer. Therefore we must give priority to “God and to our relationship with him in prayer, both as individuals and in the community. If we do not have the capacity to pause and listen to the Lord, to enter into dialogue with him, we risk becoming ineffectually agitated by problems, difficulties and needs.”

The Fire of The Holy Spirit

To become a new wineskin you must be re-created. The Spirit of Love does the work, but you must also do your part in response to his unfailing Love.

Life In The Spirit

May 9, 2012 by Deacon Frederick Bartels Leave a Comment

single woman, prayer

In his book “The Experience of God’s Presence,” Fr. Anselm Moynihan quotes from an American writer who, in referring to a group of university students, describes them as living “in comfortable disregard of the superhuman. They are neither in revolt against it, nor in search of it. Religion as a social service they find all about them, and they respect. Religion as something relating to God they neither know nor miss.”

Pope St. John Paul II:

Jesus Christ meets the man of every age, including our own, with the same words: “You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” These words contain both a fundamental requirement and a warning: the requirement of an honest relationship with regard to truth as a condition for authentic freedom, and the warning to avoid every kind of illusory freedom, every superficial unilateral freedom, every freedom that fails to enter into the whole truth about man and the world.  (Redemptor Hominis No. 12)
