Death will arrive in the blink of an eye. At that moment, the order in which we have maintained our house, or the disarray we have intentionally permitted, will be confirmed for eternity. The Son of Man will require an account of our deeds and words.

Repentance: Conforming One’s Life to Reality
When Christ began his ministry he announced: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Mt 3:2, Mk 1:15). Our Lord’s words connect the necessity of repentance with obtaining the promise of unending happiness and joy found in God alone and life in his kingdom.
Acknowledging Christ
Deism is today the “common sense” religion of many Catholics and other Christians in America. On a subliminal and personal level, it has fused itself with Christian beliefs, forming a new kind of faith based on feel-good dogmas and relativized sexual ethics.
Relativizing Religion
As part of a university course project I’m involved in which entails presenting the Catholic and Christian faith in the modern world, I recently took a trip down to the local university here in town and interviewed some of the students there. I interviewed eight people whose religious beliefs were quite diverse.
Becoming an Anti-Relativist
In the previous essay, I noted how one aspect found in those who embrace relativism is a propensity to project the wishes and desires of their individual ego onto God. This is often manifested by shaping God into a kind of permissive, “Divine Grandfather of Love,” who is himself a relativist.
