My Journey Back Into The Heart and Womb of The Church

Taxes, Zacchaeus, and The Tree God Planted

July 29, 2020 by Donna Caito Leave a Comment

The human person is called to truth

What do taxes and the tree God planted have to do with each other? There is a saying I love to tell people, “Long before Zacchaeus needed it, God planted that tree.” Because God knew one day that small Zacchaeus needed to see the Son of God.

When Death Arrives, Will You Say Joyfully: O Death, Where is Thy Sting?

May 27, 2020 by Deacon Frederick Bartels Leave a Comment

graveyard, cemetary

There are no ranks among the victors over death for libertines, religious freethinkers, and those who value pride and power over meekness, humility and love. Those who raise the banner of triumph, adorned with everlasting life, do so by the saving death of Christ.

Pope St. John Paul II:

Jesus Christ meets the man of every age, including our own, with the same words: “You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” These words contain both a fundamental requirement and a warning: the requirement of an honest relationship with regard to truth as a condition for authentic freedom, and the warning to avoid every kind of illusory freedom, every superficial unilateral freedom, every freedom that fails to enter into the whole truth about man and the world.  (Redemptor Hominis No. 12)
