Root Problem: A Failure to Understand What it Means to be Human

November 10, 2021 by Deacon Frederick Bartels Leave a Comment

Woman's eye

It is no surprise that American secularists display a high level of disdain for Catholicism, since, whether they admit it or not, the Catholic Church represents the antithesis of their futile quest to annihilate truth and religion.

January 13, 2021 by Deacon Frederick Bartels Leave a Comment

Communism

The New Evangelization and Its Connection to Voting In November: Strive To Heal, Elevate and Perfect Culture

January 24, 2020 by Deacon Frederick Bartels Leave a Comment

St. Peter's Square, Catholic Church, One true faith

Authentic participation in the New Evangelization requires the proper exercise of the right and duty to vote. When I stand before Jesus Christ, will I be able to justify my voting choices, or will whatever I say merely be an unsuccessful attempt to rationalize them? The answer to that question makes all the difference.

Independence Day: The Battle for Freedom Continues

July 4, 2019 by Deacon Frederick Bartels Leave a Comment

America and Freedom

America’s celebration of its victory in the battle for freedom and independence should serve to remind us all that true freedom is under attack today. Secular humanism and the “culture of death” continue to undermine an authentic human freedom.

Gender Reassignment Surgery: It’s Not a Solution

October 9, 2017 by Deacon Frederick Bartels Leave a Comment

Pope St. John Paul II:

Jesus Christ meets the man of every age, including our own, with the same words: “You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” These words contain both a fundamental requirement and a warning: the requirement of an honest relationship with regard to truth as a condition for authentic freedom, and the warning to avoid every kind of illusory freedom, every superficial unilateral freedom, every freedom that fails to enter into the whole truth about man and the world.  (Redemptor Hominis No. 12)
